True story: I had the best childhood and the best parents but sometimes my father scared me.
My father was the kindest and gentlest man I have ever known.
When he saw a man that he knew he always called him "buddy." I don't know if he couldn't remember names or chose not to remember.
Anyway, when it came to women he met, whether he knew them or not, he called them "little lady."
One time when I was a kid he and I went to the bank. He called the teller "little lady" as usual.
I looked up and the woman must have weighed 400 pounds!
I thought oh no, she is going to be offended thinking my father was making fun of her weight.
But she had a big smile on her face.
I would never try saying that to a big woman myself though.
